she's someone raised with a silver spoon in her mouth and, truthfully, she never had to hike so much until she joined rocket (against her will, the first time). nowadays, she doesn't struggle as much physically. thankfully. it's the only reason she's able to keep up with the man who walks a couple paces ahead of her. [break][break]

in the meantime, she's been appreciating the scenery, passing by trees along the dirt path as they trekked. her train of though is interrupted only by his voice, and the image of him extending an arm out - one that she immediately takes with a warm smile to her face. "hopefully we aren't~.." the woman chimes, taking care to adjust the backpack she carries "i even had a picnic prepared~"

He laughed, sucking in a quick, bracing breath as he pulled her up with him. ”I know we aren’t. Have faith~.” With his hand still tightened around hers, he took care to pace back a step or two while glancing over his shoulder to guide himself, lest he fall over another edge. ”It’s off the trail, but I’ve visited this area several times before, so no need to worry~.”[break][break]

He looked over one of the edges of the boulder, and—after assessing the best place to lower down from—he jumped down onto a flatter patch of ground beneath, turning around to gaze up at her while opening his arms and gesturing her down.[break][break]

”There will be plenty of open space for you to set up, too~,” he added, his smile broadening. ”We simply need to get there— so come, let me help you back down.”

the travel will most certainly be worth it - though she could argue that the travel itself was a reward. or maybe it was the view of him reaching up towards her, arms outstretched and ready to catch her for when she drops down. if you told her that would be what she's signing up for, she'd say that's plenty reason to go, alone. no need to bribe her with a scenery when she has the view in front of her. [break][break]

still, she's careful on her way off the boulder. one leg in front of the other as she lowers herself, until she can place both her hands in his. "i don't think i've done this much traversing in a while--" she's careful on her way down, if only to keep the picnic prepared in her bag from getting crushed.

Within an instinctive manner, he held onto the tips of her fingers as she reached out towards him, though had sought to move his hands along her arms, instead, as a means to secure a better grip as she shifted herself down. ”Then this was a good a time as any to make the trip, no~?” he hummed, sparing her a watchful eye to ensure her wellbeing as her feet touch upon the ground once more. ”It’ll take some care on the way back, but it’ll be worth the travels~.”[break][break]

With that, he lowered both of his arms, though took care to slip one of his along to take her hand once more. Gently pressing his palm against hers, he folded his fingers upon the sides of her hand before beginning to walk and guide her along once more, only stopping several minutes later as the sounds and sight of running water met his senses.[break][break]

He turned towards her when that time came, gesturing to the clearing before them.[break][break]

”...Is there any place in particular you’d like to set up~?”

he's gentle with her, holding her firmly, but taking care that she doesn't hurt herself when she lands onto her feet. "thank you~" she chimes. she pauses as her hand is held in his, but she ultimately presses her palm in return, fingers twining and a smile stretches across her lips. [break][break]

they arrive to the clearing, thankfully. she only has to take a glance out, but there doesn't seem to be.. any place where they could set up. taking a glance around, she hums, then quirks her lip. "mm.. the view is beautiful, but.." no place in particular sparked joy.[break][break]

"oh!" she brightens up, a smile to her lips as she pulls out a pokeball. "i have a great idea~" is all she says, before tossing the pokeball into the air for a torterra to stomp against the ground. "we can have a picnic on top of him~"

Truthfully speaking, it was an amusing thought to say the least, and although he found himself caught off guard at the notion at first, the man gave a softly amused smile as his gaze drifted towards the creature in question. He hummed.[break][break]

"...That's honestly the first time I've heard a suggestion like that," he started off, his tone musing as he raised a brow, "but I'd be lying if I said I was opposed to it~. With those words, he let go of her hand with some hidden degree of reluctance, though all in favor of stepping towards the grass type before them. As he met gazes with it, he offered it a quick smile before reaching up, and—ensuring to the best of his ability that his grasp wouldn’t hinder or otherwise agitate it—pulled himself up with a gentle grunt.[break][break]

Turning around, he offered his hand down, nodding to the bags she bore. ”Come. Let me get those for you, amore~.”

the torterra doesn't mind (rather, maybe he's just gotten used to how his trainer likes to pull him into these shenanigans). so she smiles brightly as she lifts herself onto the giant turtleback - with his assistance of course - before situating herself and making herself nice and comfortable. "thank you, love~" she chimes, immediately starting to instinctively nuzzle and nestle against his arm again. the torterra is big enough to hold the both of them, thankfully, and the tree growing on his back doesn't hinder them in the slightest. rather, it offers the perfect amount of shade. [break][break]

she's careful with the bag she brought over to carry their food - also carefully packed in containers so that nothing spills - and setting them down on the shell. the intention is to start unpacking, but she's left staring out at the distance, in slight awe, solely to appreciate the sight. give or take a few moments, a lightbulb goes off in her head, and she pulls out her phone then pulls out a pokeball to call out her vespiquen. [break][break]

"why don't we take a picture together? the view is beautiful up here~" she nudges at the man's arm, already leaning her head against his shoulder.

Needless to say, her closeness was far from opposed once she’d properly and safely situated herself atop the back of her Pokemon. Taking care to gently pull the bag from her (lest she be shifted off balance) before pulling her along, he set it aside before helping her begin taking the contents out. He hummed softly while doing so, though spared a subtle, amused glance towards her upon feeling her lean further against his form.[break][break]

She suggested taking a picture, and before long, he found himself looking up towards the regal that he’d assumed would be helping with the task. Blinking, he slowly set down the most rescind piece of tupperware he’d taken between his fingers down, a soft smile tugging upon his lips as he properly processed what was suggested/[break][break]

”Mmn. There’s no harm in it~...” the man hummed idly, his eyes shifting towards the woman resting so comfortably and leisurely against him before peering back towards the bug type and the phone she was given. ”Taking advantage of the backdrop, mmn~?”

"indeed~" she smiles more, awaiting for the bug pokemon to snap a picture as she nestles herself against a man's arm. the picture doesn't take too long, though the queen pokemon was trying her best not to float - rather doing what she could to remain perfectly still while hovering - lest the picture turn out blurry. [break][break]

with that done, she moves away, but not without twining her fingers between a man's with a soft smile to her lips. the torterra lowers himself and slowly withdraws his stubby legs into the shell, hoping to assist the couple on hopping onto him. "we can look at the picture during the picnic~"
